Acupuncture

Acupuncture begins with the basic principle of CHI or QI. CHI or QI is the life force in the body with the complementary extremes of yin/yang. Illness results from an imbalance of the forces. By inserting needles into these points, in various combinations, the result is a rebalancing of your energy flow.

This is in contrast to the Western or allopathic medicine with the modern concepts of neuroscience. Many practitioners view the acupuncture points as places to stimulate the nerve, muscle and connective tissue. This stimulation appears to boost your body's natural healing process.

WHO IS ACUPUNCTURE FOR?

This procedure can be used as a stand-alone treatment for some conditions, but it is increasingly being used in conjunction with conventional western medical treatment or other alternative medicines, such as chiropractic. Acupuncture stimulates the release of endorphins that function in the brain to relieve pain. It also strengthens the immune system, improves circulation, decreases muscle tightness and increases joint flexibility.

It offers symptomatic relief for various diseases and conditions: e.g. low back pain, headache, fibromyalgia, migraines, sciatica, depression, insomnia, chronic fatigue syndrome, anxiety, arthritis pain, and many others.

In addition, research shows that this procedure can help manage post-operative dental pain, relief for chronic menstrual cramps, should and elbow tendinitis, and alleviate chemotherapy-induced nausea and vomiting.

It is safe, when performed properly.

It has few side effects.

It can be useful as a complement to other treatment methods.

It helps control all types of pain.

It may be an alternative if you don't respond to or don't want to take pain medication.

HOW DOES ACUPUNCTURE WORK?

There are 12 channels in the body called "meridians". These run vertically along the length of the body. Each meridian is linked to a specific organ. Illness is caused by obstructed energy flow at certain points along the meridian. Acupuncture therapy stimulates the meridian flow, helps the body to influence the health of both the body and the mind. It might just be the answer to your health questions.
